Early Bird Holiday Shopping: Why Eco-Friendly Gifts Win Every Time

Well it's October and I am in NO way rushing the holidays. AT ALL.

However....planning ahead and preparing for the gifting season is always going to be more eco-friendly all around.

Why? Grabbing a thoughtful gift from a local business is going to be more well received, and you are not going to have to splurge on the overnight/expedited shipping (keep that carbon footprint down!).

And if it is returned? Well, those big box stores...they just usually throw that stuff in the landfill. Seriously. We don't. An eco-friendly gift is perfect for your 'crunchy' friend, but it's also a great way to start a conversation about eco-friendly alternatives, or just gift with the peace of mind knowing that you are not contributing to plastic waste or unethical production.

Our favorite gifts for anytime of year?

Duckhead Umbrella

Why? A classic practical gift, lasts forever. Super chic for the fashionable and non fashionable alike. Made sustainably (and B Corp Certified!). Millions of umbrellas end up in the landfill annually..so just get a good one that lasts!

Ambrosia Linen Bags

Why? It's a newer product to us, but after trying A LOT of different solutions for keeping your precious produce fresh (but also making is super easy without a lot of steps!), we have been loving these. A great gift for anyone who has a kitchen.

The Best Local Candles

We love these candles made here on the South Shore by Feather and Finn. Small batch and non toxic, choose from their Everyday Collection, or their seasonal Collection,

A Notebook and Set of Blackwing Pencils

A nice new notebook is always an easy go to. We have sustainable beautiful options for any type of writer/dreamer/or just general list maker. Pair it with some luxurious Blackwings for a 10/10. Check out the upcycled notebooks from Coffee Notes, or a more bold print from Cambridge Imprints

Treat Your Self

Looking for a friend that loves a day at the spa or some home pampering? So many options to mix and match. AND ours are all sustainably produced without plastic, and common toxins that most other commercial products have.

Grab a soap or a body wash bar and pair it with a cotton pouf or soap saver.

Add a couple of shower steamers or a dry brush or gua sha tool.

Stuck?

Pair a spoon with a set of adorable dish towels. (which are of course packaged plastic free and made with sustainable dyes and cotton)

Minimalist on your list?

A beautiful hand broom and dust pan makes a beautiful gift that they can treasure for years and years. Sustainably made, and way prettier than a nylon and plastic dust pan set that is going to break.

And of course, don't forget to package it sustainably too! Skip the new un-recyclable gift wrap and opt for a reuseable option (whether its experimenting with furoshiki or just using a kraft paper bag-hold the glitter and dyes!) or get creative and upcycle an old grocery bag!
