What's worse than living with toxins?

Not living life
Anxiety is unhealthy.
Not getting fresh air is unhealthy.
Living in fear is unhealthy.
I speak to this as someone with life long anxiety. Gratefully, I’ve never had to deal with OCD or anxiety so strong that I stopped living. Some anxiety is good- it creates drive, you learn grit…
but …not going to the gym because of BPA concerns or not going out kayaking because of motor gas concerns, going broke because you installed all sorts of filters and spent thousands of dollars to lead test every.single.item that passes through your door…
Or worse, not using a car seat at all because it has flame retardants, forgoing routine care because of fear of medicine, or not brushing teeth because of bristle nylon exposure, doomscrolling on social media to ‘learn’ about every way in which the modern world can harm you…..
ALL OF THIS is worse than limiting your toxic exposure.
I worried a lot. Will the garden grow, will the rivers
flow in the right direction, will the earth turn
as it was taught, and if not how shall
I correct it?
Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven,
can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows
can do it and I am, well,
hopeless.
Is my eyesight fading or am I just imagining it,
am I going to get rheumatism,
lockjaw, dementia?
Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing.
And I gave it up. And took my old body
and went out into the morning,
and sang.

Obviously, I think it’s important to reduce exposure to known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors, and I think it’s important to reduce our consumption….but do I let it take over my life? No. (well…at least, usually)
Buying new? Yes, Look into it.
Already bought? No you don’t need to get a new couch.
Focus on what you CAN DO.
And not that you asked….but the healthiest things you can do for your brain and body?
