Hot Tips for a Sustainable Thanksgiving
Share
You already know all these, but a reminder is always helpful
-
Choose reusables. Opt for cloth napkins, tablecloths, plates, and all that. Headed to someone else's home that’s not into it? Offer to bring your cloth napkins and bring them home so they don’t have to worry about the laundry.
-
BYOC. Not hosting? Bring a container (or two!) to bring some leftovers home! (if your host is offering of course)
-
EAT THE LEFTOVERS. Need some inspo? Check out The Fisherman’s Wife.
-
Leftover mashed potatoes → mashed potato quiche crust
-
Turkey → Turkey Casserole
-
Thanksgiving Dinner Sandwich. Always a 10/10- Rachel’s Tips? Warm the turkey up in leftover gravy, do not skimp on the cranberry, and a little mayo goes a long way. (honestly, game changing advice right there)
- (and when all else fails, compost)
Check out a few years ago blog for some other ideas (i.e sourcing local turkeys and produce - that I’m posting a wee bit too late to reiterate some of these!)
Though you could hit up the Hingham Farmers Market on Saturday or Holly Hill Farm is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
